World Press Freedom Day 2016, Month long activities

In commemoration of World press freedom day, MISA Lesotho in partnership with the US embassy and UNESCO have planned  the following activities;

World press freedom day World press freedom day will be commemorated in Quthing district to celebrate the multilingual and cultural diversity of the district. The highlights of the include the speech by minister of communication and science and technology ,statement by UNESCO secretary general, handing over of pheshake qili community radio station equipment by MISA  to the community, a statement by the community radio station’s Chairperson. The event will be multicultural colorful comprising of traditional songs, dances and artist originating from the district. 7th May 2016, 09:00-13:00 Quthing Pitso Ground, Upper Moyeni ,Quthing Members of Quthing community and Media Practitioners
Screening of an academic movie called Spotlight Spotlight is a true story demonstrating the power of investigative journalism that uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core. Press Club The press club is the gathering of      journalists. At this press Club MISA Lesotho Together with the American Embassy will give investigative reporting awards to Local Journalists on the categories of Radio, Television and Print on reports published from November 2015 to May 2016 MISA Lesotho premises, Happy Villa, House 1b Friday,27 May 2016, 17:00-20:00 MISA Lesotho Members and Practicing Journalists
Editors Roundtable with Ambassador Matthew Harrington.  An off-the-record meeting where issues of interest to the media, the state of the media and other Lesotho/United States bilateral topics can be touched on. American Corner, State Library Thursday, May 26, 12:30 – 14:00 Editors
